    Davao City Vice Mayor Leads Medical Caravan in Brgy. Indangan

    In a collaborative effort to bring essential services closer to the residents of Davao City, the Davao City Vice Mayor’s Office (VMO) spearheaded the Serbisyong Medical ug Legal All the Way caravan in Brgy. Indangan.

    This initiative aimed to provide free medical and legal services to the community, addressing the diverse needs of its constituents.

    Addressing Healthcare Needs: Medical Assistance

    The event was held on January 20 at the Brgy. Indangan Gymnasium witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 254 residents benefiting from the services offered. A dedicated team of doctors from the City Health Office (CHO), Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF), Southern Philippines Medical Center, and private practitioners volunteered their expertise to provide medical assistance to those in need.

    The medical services provided included general check-ups, consultations, diagnostic tests, and medication distribution. Residents had the opportunity to have their health concerns promptly addressed, irrespective of their financial status.

    Empowering Communities through Consultations

    Additionally, two legal experts generously offered free legal consultations, addressing the legal queries and concerns of the community members. They guided various legal matters. These included family law, property disputes, and contractual issues. The intention is to empower individuals with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities under the law.

    Serving the Community via Outreach

    The VMO reported that 40 individuals availed themselves of free legal services. Furthermore, the medical team attended to more than 214 individuals, emphasising the vital role of such initiatives in enhancing healthcare accessibility and promoting overall well-being.

    Beyond addressing immediate health and legal needs, the caravan fostered a sense of community solidarity and support. Residents interacted with healthcare professionals and legal experts in a welcoming and supportive environment, promoting trust and cooperation within the community.

    Acknowledging Support with Gratitude and Collaboration

    Vice Mayor J. Melchor Quitain expressed sincere appreciation to the residents of Brgy. Indangan for their active participation in the caravan. He also extended gratitude to the barangay officials and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) for their invaluable support, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that underpins the success of community-oriented projects.

    The active involvement of local leaders and community volunteers played a crucial role in facilitating the smooth execution of the event and ensuring that the needs of the residents were effectively met.

    Promising Developments for Davao City

    During his address, Vice Mayor Quitain shared promising news with the residents. He highlighted the city government’s commitment to advancing the welfare of Dabawenyos. Additionally, he assured the public that amidst the ongoing recovery from the pandemic. He also shared the city’s robust projects lined up for 2024, aimed at surpassing the achievements of previous years.

    “For 2024, there are a lot of good things in store for Davao City,” Vice Mayor Quitain remarked. “Although we are still recovering from the pandemic, there were a lot of good projects and plans that took place in 2023. Now that the pandemic is over, our 2024 will be more bountiful, so hold on tight to your seats, and just wait for the good things that Mayor Baste has planned for the city.”

Such initiatives not only address immediate needs. It also foster a sense of community resilience and solidarity, laying the groundwork for a healthier and more empowered society.
