Testicular health is very important for men’s overall health and well-being. It is responsible for producing sperm and so keeping them healthy also maintains good reproductive health.

The testicles, also called testes, are part of the male reproductive system located inside the scrotum and are responsible for producing testosterone, a male sex hormone, and sperm, the male reproductive cells. Continue reading the article below to find out how can you best take care of your testicular health.

Testicular health can be affected by a variety of factors, including infections, trauma, and certain medical conditions. Here are some of the more common disorders and conditions that affect the testicles.

    • Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer is the most common kind of testicular disease. This cancer creates a slow-growing lump or firmness in one testicle. Fortunately, this is curable once detected early and given proper medical attention.

    • Testicular torsion

Testicular torsion occurs when the spermatic cord, the cord that attaches the testicle to the body twists and results in the cut-off blood supply to the testicle.

    • Haematocele

Haematocele is a condition in which a blood clot appears between the layers of the sac that surrounds the testicle. It is most likely a result of a physical injury or trauma toward the testicle or scrotum.

    • Orchitis

Orchitis is the inflammation of one or both testicles caused by bacterial infection.

    • Epididymitis

Epididymitis is the inflammation or infection of the epididymis, the long tube that stores sperm and transports it from the testes. The main symptom associated with epididymitis is the feeling of tenderness, warmth, and swelling of the scrotum.

If aside from the epididymis, the testes are also inflamed, this condition is known as epididymal-orchitis.

    • Testicular Failure or Primary Hypogonadism

Primary hypogonadism is a condition in which the testicles do not produce enough sperm or male hormone such as testosterone. This can lead to problems with sexual development, such as delayed puberty, and can also cause problems with fertility.

Some risk factors associated with Primary Hypogonadism are activities that cause constant, low-level injury scrotum like riding a bicycle or motorcycle, frequent or heavy use of marijuana, and undescended testicles at birth.

Some helpful tips to maintain and improve good testicular health

Testicular health is very important for men’s overall health and well-being. The testicles are responsible for producing sperm and testosterone, so keeping them healthy is crucial for sexual and reproductive health. There are a few things that men can do to keep their testicles healthy.

    • Wear proper protection. Always use protective gear and equipment when doing physical activities such as sports or work. This can prevent any trauma to the testicle.
    • Maintain proper hygiene. Always maintain proper testicular hygiene by taking a bath and cleaning it with soap and water regularly.
    • Watch what you eat. Having a healthy diet such as eating fruits and vegetables regularly helps improve testicular health. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
    • Exercise. Regular exercise can help to improve blood circulation to the testicles.
    • Wearing loose-fitting underwear. This can help to prevent the testicles from being damaged. Tight clothing can put pressure on the testicles and possibly damage them.
    • Don’t be ashamed to seek medical advice. If you feel or experience any lump or swelling on your testicle or in any part of your reproductive organs, it is best to talk to your doctor about it. In this way, you can have the proper diagnosis and administer proper treatment as well.

    Conclusion

Testicular health is very essential for male reproductive health. Just like any part of the human body, it is also prone to a variety of disorders when not given proper care and attention. There are practical ways that men can observe and follow in their everyday lives so that they can maintain their testicular health in its best shape.
