Lil Dicky, a popular US rapper, has recently opened up about his struggle with body insecurities and revealed that he was born with a condition called hypospadias.

The rapper, whose real name is David Andrew Burd, shared his experience on a recent episode of the Call Her Daddy podcast.

Hypospadias is a congenital condition that occurs in males. It is a birth defect in which the opening of the urethra, the tube that carries urine from the bladder to outside the body, is not located at the tip of the penis. Instead, it is located on the underside of the penis, the shaft, or even the scrotum.

At birth, doctors predicted that the singer wouldn’t be able to urinate or ejaculate properly, and he had to have multiple surgeries. He also suffered from social anxiety growing up due to the condition.

    Symptoms of Hypospadias

The severity of hypospadias varies from person to person. In some cases, the opening is only slightly displaced; in others, it may be located further back on the penis.

In addition to the abnormal positioning of the urethral opening, hypospadias can also cause the penis to bend or curve downward during an erection. Other symptoms may include:

    • A small or malformed penis
    • Difficulty urinating
    • Painful erections
    • Foreskin that does not completely cover the head of the penis

    Causes of Hypospadias

The exact cause of hypospadias is unknown, but it is believed to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. It may be more common in families with a history of the condition. Also, it has been associated with exposure to certain chemicals during pregnancy.

    Treatment for Hypospadias

Treatment for hypospadias usually involves surgery to reposition the urethral opening to the tip of the penis. The goal of surgery is to improve urinary and sexual function and to create a more natural appearance of the penis.

Doctors may perform surgery during infancy in some cases, while in others, they may delay it until the child is older. The type of surgery used depends on the severity of the hypospadias.

    Living with Hypospadias

While hypospadias can be a challenging condition to live with, it is important to remember that it is treatable. Thereafter, many people with hypospadias go on to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. It is also important to seek support from family, friends, and healthcare providers to help manage any emotional or psychological impact of the condition.

    Conclusion

Hypospadias is a congenital condition that affects males. It can cause a range of symptoms, including abnormal positioning of the urethral opening and a small or malformed penis. In conclusion, while it can be a challenging condition to live with, it is treatable with surgery. Rapper Lil Dicky’s story sheds light on the importance of sharing experiences and seeking support to manage any emotional or psychological impact of living with hypospadias.
